Carmakers embrace the CIIE for new opportunities

Automakers are getting prepared for the upcoming China?International?Import?Expo (CIIE) which will be held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10.

US automaker Ford?Motor will showcase the most?advanced?products and cutting-edge technologies of its two major brands Ford and Lincoln. The company said that it will demonstrate its commitment to science and technology and aims to provide more intelligent products and services to its Chinese customers. 

At this year’s CIIE, Mark Rearick, vice president of Ford China, will sign a new agreement on import components and parts in 2020 on behalf of Ford Motor Company with a Chinese partner. The agreement demonstrates Ford’s commitment and concrete steps taken to support China's auto market and the industry’s long-term and sustainable development.

Ford said the company hopes to seize the opportunities provided by China's newest round of high-level opening-up strategies. Ford will focus on the China market and continue to deepen its cooperation with China in business, technology and trade, striving to achieve mutual prosperity and progress.

At the Ford booth, two legendary models will be presented to Chinese customers: Ford’s best-seller in North America for 42 years, the F-150; and the iconic sports car, the?Mustang. Lincoln, the luxury car brand of the Ford Motor Company will showcase six models.

In addition, audiences will be able to?experience Ford’s latest driver-assisting technology in the Auto Innovation Technology and Autonomous Driving Experience Area. 

Italian luxury car manufacturer Maserati will have a booth of about 200 square meters and display three models: the Quattroporte Edizione Nobile, the Levante Edizione Nobile and the Ghibli.

Mirko Bordiga, managing director of Maserati China, said that "Maserati wants to bring our brand closer to China, to customers, and let them feel our product and recognize that Italy and the company can play their part in today’s technology development. At the same time, we hope to have more in-depth conversations with Chinese consumers through CIIE, which we believe will be of great benefit to future development."

A total of 69 auto companies from 16 countries and regions will participate in the expo this year. Carmakers confirmed for the expo include General Motors, Tesla, Volkswagen, BMW, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia and IVECO. Parts makers such as Bosch, Aisin Seiki, Denso and Webasto will also unveil latest offerings.
