Shanghai has 'first class' entrepreneurship ecosystem
Shanghai has a first class ecosystem for entrepreneurs among Chinese cities thanks to technology upgrades and rapid development of people's income and the economy, Shanghai Daily learned at an entrepreneurship event this weekend.
Training and education courses for robot operation, taking better care of autistic children with AI or artificial intelligence tools, and using AI for art education have become spotlights of the Global Entrepreneurship Week China event. Start-up founders and executives demonstrated and introduced projects to investors and visitors on site.
Big data applications in finance, health care and education, AI, security of blockchain and other sectors related to cultural innovation and consumption upgrade were hot topics. Shanghai, with talent and infrastructure resources, has a “first-class entrepreneurship ecosystem” in China, said the Entrepreneurship Ecosystem and Venture Capital report released in the weekend.
In 2016, Shanghai’s venture capital investment volume hit US$16.8 billion, higher than Silicon Valley at the same time. It’s a great leap from Shanghai's US$100 million in 2010, the report said.
With professional courses between 80 hours and 240 hours, graduated students can master skills to operate industrial robots developed by Fanuc or Kuka. They will become “competitive and well-paid” in the career market in China, the Shanghai Intoway Automation Engineering Corp, which offers the paid courses, said.
By 2020, China will need more than 1 million robot engineers for robots, manufacturing and automotive firms, Shanghai Intoway, which has obtained angel investment recently, added.
