New film, TV projects unveiled at SIFF
Tencent Pictures announced a slew of new film and television projects on Monday during the ongoing Shanghai International Film Festival.
Many of the projects are realistic movies about ordinary people’s lives and changes in society.
“The Rescue,” to be released in cinemas during the Spring Festival holiday next year, is the country’s first film production about maritime rescue.
“A First Farewell” is a heartwarming film about a boy’s childhood and his affinity with his sick mother.
The TV series “The Galloped Era,” starring Tong Dawei and Jiang Xin, pays tribute to the elder generation of Chinese electric locomotive engineers.
International film co-productions are also underway. Among the projects are the animated feature “Wish Dragon,” an adventure film “Monster Hunter” and a drama “Beautiful Day In the Neighborhood.”

Cheng Wu, CEO of Tencent Pictures, said that the company will continue to tell good stories. The brilliance of Chinese culture, ancient legends and history will also inspire more film and TV productions, which can be introduced to audiences worldwide.
According to a new announcement from the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, more excellent TV productions will be distributed overseas with the aim of helping Chinese culture go global.
Both classic and recent Chinese TV dramas will be shown in North America, Africa and other countries, including India, France and Indonesia, later this year.
Among the first batch of TV dramas are the Shanghai-produced series “A Love For Separation,” which tackles education and family relationships, epic drama “Romance of Our Parents,” entrepreneurship drama “Feather Fly” and medical drama “The Young Doctor.”
