The International Culture Communication Center is officially unveiled by Xu Bei (left), deputy secretary-general of CCPS and director of its Media Lab, and Jesse Lin, CEO of Edelman Asia Pacific.

The Media Lab of the Chinese Culture Promotion Society (CCPS) and Edelman, a leading global communications marketing firm, have signed a memorandum of understanding in Shanghai on a two-year strategic partnership to launch the International Culture Communication Center.

The center will leverage digital technology and transmedia platforms to promote Chinese culture, facilitate international culture exchanges and make Chinese brands globally known.

Attending today’s signing ceremony were Xu Bei, deputy secretary-general of CCPS and director of the Media Lab; Ellen Wang, secretary-general and deputy director of the Media Lab; Jesse Lin, CEO of Edelman Asia Pacific; and Jeffrey Yu, CEO of Edelman China.

Cross-cultural communication has become strategically important with further integration of the global economy and the development of digital technology. As more Chinese enterprises go global following China’s Belt and Road Initiative, advice services from a professional and forward-looking organization are more crucial than ever.

Understanding this need, Edelman will partner with CCPS Media Lab to support Chinese companies to better integrate into the global community by providing cross-cultural communication guidance.

“Through the International Cultural Communication Center, we will leverage our strengths to further understand the cross-cultural communication needs, promote research on such communication in the digital age by participating relevant international forums and events,” said Tony Tao, Edelman China's executive vice president of public affairs and advisory. “We will also develop cultural content and hold exchange activities while providing consulting services on brand internationalization to Chinese enterprises."

The Media Lab is committed to serving Chinese brands by providing a technologically empowered culture communication platform, Xu said. “We’re excited to partner with Edelman to launch the International Culture Communication Center and create an internationally influential platform to facilitate cross-cultural exchange among culture communications practitioners, content and technology providers, and corporate partners from both home and abroad. Leveraging key emerging technologies such as blockchain, we aim to realize a new and open communication ecosystem.”
