A cycling event on Sunday has began a month of cultural and tourism promotion activities in Xuhui District.
Three cycling routes in the Xujiahuiyuan scenic area, Hengfu (Hengshan-Fuxing Road) Historical Conservation Zone, and Xuhui riverfront area were released by the Xuhui District Administration of Culture and Tourism.
They showcase 17 cultural and tourism landmarks such as the Shanghai Film Museum, T'ou-Se-We Museum, Qian Xuesen Library and the former residence of Xu Guangqi, a famous Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) politician and scientist, in Xujiahuiyuan, the former residence of cartoonist Zhang Leping (1910-1992), Soong Ching Ling Memorial Residence, the new Hengfu Exhibition Hall, and Shanghai Museum of Arts and Crafts in Hengfu area, and West Bund Museum, Yuz Museum Shanghai, Shanghai Botanical Garden and Long Museum in West Bund.
About 60 people cycled the West Bund route on Sunday.

"It is very tranquil," said Nick from the Ukraine, a student of Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, who has been living in Shanghai for around six years.
He said he had jogged in the area many times, while it was a first to cycle.
"I am very excited," he said.
It was the first visit for Reza Tabar from Iran.
"It seems to be a very nice area of Shanghai," he said.
He has been in the city for one year and works here.
"The activity is very interesting and I think it is a good way to promote the area, so people can come and experience this area of Shanghai," said Tabar.
"It is a good time to experience the museums."
A cycling guide covering the Xujiahuiyuan scenic area, Hengfu (Hengshan-Fuxing Road) Historical Conservation Zone and Xuhui riverfront area was released at the same time. It is available at places such as the Wukang Road tourist information center, Xujiahuiyuan tourist information center, West Bund Museum and Hengfu Exhibition Hall for free.

Cyclists will receive gifts including tourism souvenirs and shared bike cards at the Wukang Road tourist information center and Xujiahuiyuan tourist information center if they finish the whole cycling route with marks from all the 17 venues on their cycling guide.
They can then go into a lucky draw online with gifts including mobile phone and hotel coupons.
The events aim to promote the rich cultural and tourism resources of the district, the administration said.
During the month-long campaign, cultural venues, tourist attractions, hotels and restaurants will offer discounted tickets, coupons and host lucky draws, it said.
Among them, the Yuz Museum Shanghai, West Bund Museum and Shanghai Film Museum will offer discounted admissions, while book stores like Dayin Bookmall and Zhongshuge Bookstore will offer discounts on some books.
