In honor of tourism festival, city attractions halve admission prices

Sixty-nine tourist attractions and museums across the city will offer half-price admission between September 12 and 18 as part of the 31st Shanghai Tourism Festival, cultural and tourism authorities announced on Wednesday.

The list includes the Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the 88th-floor observatory of Jin Mao Tower, the 94th-floor observatory of Shanghai World Financial Center, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, Shanghai Tower, Shanghai Jinshanzui Fishing Village, Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park, Donglin Temple scenic area, Shanghai Ocean Aquarium and Daguanyuan (Grandview Garden), according to the Shanghai Administration of Culture and Tourism.

Parks such as the Shanghai Wild Animal Park, Century Park, Dongping National Forest Park, Shanghai Zoo, Shanghai Botanical Garden, Shanghai Guyi Garden, Paotaiwan National Wetland Park, Zuibaichi Park, Gongqing Forest Park and Gucun Park are also on the half-price offer list.

The Zhujiajiao and Fengjing watertowns will offer half-price discounts on attractions during the week as well, according to the administration.

Museums including the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, Shanghai Natural History Museum, Shanghai Film Museum, and Shanghai Auto Museum; and amusement parks including Jinjiang Amusement Park and Shanghai Happy Valley are also on the list.

The Shanghai Disney Resort will offer discounted tickets for admissions after 3pm, while the Huangpu River cruises will enable half-price discounts for cruise tours before 6pm during the week, according to the administration.

The administration warned visitors to be prepared for long queues at some tourist attractions due to the discounts and avoid expected peak hours.

It has become a tradition for major scenic spots in the city to provide half-price tickets during the annual Shanghai Tourism Festival in September.

The festival, now in its 31st version, will also feature activities that include cycling, cruises, light shows and culture festivals. Tourists and residents will be invited to experience 102 tourism routes and products during the festival from September 12 to 27.

Some cultural, business and tourism venues at the Nanjing Road Pedestrian Mall will remain open until midnight on September 12 to mark the opening of the festival, the administration said.
